Sigh

Sigh.

Since my OTW told the WHOLE WORLD ALL about my sickness, I might as well tell you this too. I'm going to the vet on Monday, if my OTW can get me an appointment (apparently they're not open on weekends-just emergency calls to Dr Tara) so she wasn't able to make an appointment. She says my eyes are gunking up again, and now I'm sneezing everywhere. I'm feeling BETTER!!! Look! I'm PLAYing! With the kittens even! I'm not SICK anymore!

On a good note, Squeak is settling in nicely, and we're civilising her for her humans. She should be good to have brothers and sisters in the future.

On a bad note, Persephone is letting her title go to her head! Yesterday it was poor Grumpybutt, who wasn't even being grumpy to her. He wasn't even doing anything and she pounced him and scratched up his nose. He's been running in terror all day and hiding in closets today. And today, she's decided she's going to be the boss of me too! Ran right up and BIT ME!!! On the BUTT! After I recovered from my surprise I pounced her 'magestic' butt and thumped her around a bit!

And this after I've been so nice and sharing my human with her! I think I'm gonna have to do it a bit more though, 'cause she acted more outraged than put in her place! ::Bad word:: kittens! This is why I don't tell when I'm feeling poor! She let me get a little better and now she thinks just 'cause I'm not completely up to vishus deer hunting she can conquer the house! I'm twice her size and three times her weight, and she's gonna get ROLLED AROUND THE FLOOR!!!!

I don't want to rule the house, that's too much like work. I'd rather just be friends with everycat, but I'm NOT letting that KITTEN be in charge!!!

On another good note, Squeak's humans have gone. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE them. The lady-human gives really good scritches and all, but there was just too many people, and now at least we've got the cat room back. Gives us all a few more places to nap. And escape kittens!

I'm gonna go nap now. Thanks for checking up on me everycat! Purrrrrrrrrs KC!

Does my patch of six white hairs count as a Spot?

::edit:: Jack's OTW here, Jack's also going to the vet because while I still don't know if he's the only cat with squirty poop, (there's been 'issues' with that since Persephone showed up, and I can never catch them coming out of the box), I finally caught Jack, so I know he's definitely got 'issues'. Persephone may be having the problem too, but I found fresh squirty poop in there this morning after getting dressed, and since Whisper and Persephone were in the bedroom watching me dress (the little furverts) I know it wasn't them, and the problem started before Squeak came. I'm especially worried because one of them has had a bit of blood coming out with their stool occasionally since these 'issues' began. I was hoping it was just Persephone adjusting to the new home and food, and I haven't seen blood in more than a week, but in Jack goes anyway. With a stool sample too. I'll keep trying to catch Persephone to see if she's got issues too.

And there goes part of our stash of cash for the big trip to civilisation in Feb. Good thing the little buggers are cute, or I'd be getting new fur-lined mittens!!!

Ok, ok, yeah, I'd sooner cut off my hands to keep them from getting cold, than make mittens of my kittens, but still, it IS a good thing the little con artists are good at cute!

Persephone insisted....

Persephone insisted she needed a royal title, as she is 'clearly' destined to be Queen of the Universe.

My Peculiar Aristocratic Title is:
Imperial Majesty Persephone the Euphonious of Lesser Cheese Winston
Get your Peculiar Aristocratic Title

Thank you everycat, for your good wishes and purrs. I'm feeling much better today, though a bit annoyed at my OTW for telling the WHOLE WORLD that I'm sick. Sheesh, can't a cat have a little privacy?

~Sir Jack the Feline of Brompton Underfoot

PS. Apparently KC is Quite Upset about the title she got, so I went to the site to see, and this is what it told ME her title was:

My Peculiar Aristocratic Title is:
Empress KC the Paragon of Bumpstead under Carpet
Get your Peculiar Aristocratic Title

There KC, you are a Paragon!

From the OTW

Just a quick post while Jack naps, since he IS a cat and doesn't like talking about his sickness-

Jack's feeling much better today. His eyes are still a bit watery, but not so gunky and he's feeling a bit more energetic. He even played with the kittens a bit today.

He didn't have to go to the vet. Yay! He's had this infection since he was a tiny kitten, apparently given to him by his feral mom and he couldn't fight it off, because I didn't know enough about cat care at the time to realize until much too late that he was seriously undernourished (he's not pushy about food, and I think the way I fed the kittens meant he never got enough because they were never supervised and made to share). And he has a genetic abberation that caused one of his eyelids to roll in slightly and periodically irritate his eye.

The vet at the time told me it was an infection that would never go entirely away, though probably would never be a danger to other cats. It breaks out every few years when he's feeling stressed a bit (hey, better this than more pee problems!) He was fine with just Persephone, but introducing a second new kitten less than a month later, and having Squeak's humans move in and take over the sewing room a couple days later, and the office being closed to kitties until we were sure there would be no power cord chewing, effectively turned a two-cat, three-bedroom apartment into a four-cat, one-bedroom place, and it was a bit much for him. Though as always, he's wonderful with the new guys!

Some extra loving and keeping the kittens occupied elsewhere seems to have worked wonders. So did kitten-proofing the office so we could open it, and the human house-guests are moving to a temporary housing place in a day or two until they can get an apartment next month, though we'll be sitting on the kitten a while longer . Possibly fatally, if she doesn't stop leaping into my computer chair just as I'm sitting down!!! Though if the infection's not all gone in a few more days there may be a vet trip anyway when Dr Tara is back in the office.

Persephone's lump is almost entirely gone. It seems she's just allergic to the suture fibre. The small lump in her armpit is still there, but hasn't changed any. Dr Tara said there's a good chance it's a BB pellet, though it felt a bit soft. I'll be keeping a close eye on it for a couple more months, see if it does anything. She's settled in beautifully, even Whisper doesn't seem to mind her so much, though she's not allowed any closer than Jack is. She's even playing Panther Stalks Tiger/Tiger Stalks Panther with Squeak. And she really likes to 'help' blog.

Yes, Squeak is adorable. No, I'm not keeping her. She farts. A lot. And Oh. My. God. it STINKS!!! As in, 24 hours in the sewing/cat room, and I had to open a window despite -20 (Celsius) weather, stinks. Speaking of which, any ideas why? None of Jack's litter had that problem! The only thing we can think of is broke humans buying cheap adult cat food. They're buying kitten food in a day or two, please tell me that will solve the problem?!? Anyway, her people really really love her and would kill me.

By the way, someone observed that she looked too young to be away from mom. The pet store (considered a reputable one locally) gave her birthdate as one that would make her about 2 1/2 months old. Her human's parents used to breed cats, and she says she's sure Squeak is only about 2 months now, and she got Squeak a month ago. Squeak also exhibits taken-too-early behaviour like determined suckled and kneading of my sheepskin.

Whisper is just grumpy. He's always grumpy. I think he's just a grumpy old man-cat stuck in a middle aged man-cat body. Good thing I have a soft spot for grumpy old men. And fuzzy white bellies.

My 'gotcha-dad' is feeling better. They didn't find the leak yet, but they stuck a camera down his throat and another one up the other end, and met somewhere in the middle, and he said it looked like they were arc-welding potential problem spots along the way but they don't think any of them were the main problem. I haven't spoken to mum since the weekend, when he was still in the hospital, but she said he was looking pink and seems to have all his cognative functions functioning as good as usual. If anything had changed I'm certain I would have heard, we have an extensive and talkative network of friends and family.

KC, tell Daddie-Charley, I don't watch horror movies. I'm pretty sure 'Calculon' was just something my demented brain made up.
Oh, and I most certainly do NOT have a deaded vishus deer ghostie in my brain! No matter WHAT Jack thinks!

Ok, that wasn't so quick. Sorry. Oops, Jack's waking up! Gotta go!

This Just In

My OTW wanted me to tell you

"This news just in from Dreamland.....

Calculon will, apparantly, eat my brain.

No, not Calculon, the robot soap opera star from Futurama. Calculon the claw-fingered, grey-skinned, B-grade horror movie freakshow that I will be getting as the free prize in my leather-bound, hand-written historical journal that I will be picking up in the discount socks-and-underwear bin at my local bargain department store."

She just wanted you to know, in case having her brain eaten prevented her from helping me blog. I say, so long as she can still feed me, and pet me and for the love of my nose, change those skanky litterboxes already, it's fine, she can have her brain eaten.

In other news, I think I have an eye infection. It's all watery and I keep getting green gunk in it, and I'm not very hungry or playful, and I don't even want my Temptations before bed. My OTW says vet tomorrow or the day after (whenever the Big One can arrange it) if it doesn't start getting better today. I don't even care. About the vet that is.

I just want to apologise to anyone whose blog I haven't gotten to yet, to wish them Happy New Year, I've been feeling kinda sick for days now, and we've had both human and kitty guests for days. So Happy New Year to anyone I've missed, and I'm sorry and I'll get to your blog soon, I promise!

Toesday

Squeak toes. My OTW could only get pictures of her back feets. Every time she tries to take pictures of her front feets Squeak starts batting at the camera!

Persephone toes. They look just like mine! (But smaller 'cause I have big man-feets!)

And this is what Persephone does with her toes!!! Someperson is about to get tagged!

See how her feets are smaller?

Sulky and Spotty Sunday

The other day Grumpybutt sulked the mightest sulk that ever a cat sulked!!!

He wanted to nap on the sofa, but he doesn't like other kitties sitting less than half a stretched-out-Kaze length away. Persephone likes his sofa, and she sat right in the middle of it, so when he came to nap, there she was, and he couldn't sit far enough away from her no matter which end he sat on! Oh, how mighty the sulking of a grumpy old man-cat!

At least he doesn't hiss at her anymore. He doesn't even hiss at Squeak! (though I think that's just because he's not sure what she is!) Persephone and Squeak are now stalking each other around the livingroom, and I mostly just mind them patiently. Though I had to bop Squeak once for being rude!
