Double Midnight

This week we've got Double the Midnight!

And My Sister has a name! Her name is Persephone!

This was taken the day after she came home. Yesterday, she let me lick her head!! And she chased me out of her room batting my booty with her paw! And played pawsies through the hole in the side of one of my boxes!

Remember Lux's post about Perspective? See this first picture? Persephone looks like she's as big as me! (That's her in the front)

But here, when I'm in front, you can see how big I really am! Honest, she's really tiny. But she looks big for a kitten 'cause the vet that did her ladiegardenectomy says she's really 10 months old.

My OTW says sorry for the spots on the pictures. She thinks she stirred up some dust sorting laundry right before she took these pictures.

My OTW wanted to know, 'cause she's never been had by a girl-cat before, is it normal for there to be swelling around the ladiegardenectomy incision, that's all hard, but not red and doesn't seem to hurt Persephone? She's gonna call the vet in the morning when she gets up anyway and see if she can get Persephone an appointment later in the day, or maybe Thursday, but wants to know if she should try to insist on an emergency appointment today or not.

Oh, and several new kitties have come to visit this last week or so, Willow and China Cat, Zippy, Speedy and Sadie, Craziequeen (who's a friend of Faz), Junior, Mu Shue King Cat, and Lilly and Iris, Alberta, Sky, Blackie, Charlie, and Maggie Fu! Hi! Welcome to my blog! I will add your links as soon as I can get my OTW to sit still long enough. And I'll come visit your blogs too! I've just been busy the last few days, and the OTW was hogging the computer before that! And I'll try to visit all the other kitties I haven't in a bit, I promise! I didn't forget any of you! I just can't have the computer much lately!

Double the midnight pleasure,
double the midnight fun.
That's what I say. I like her name. Will you call her all of that or shorten it up a bit?

Can't tell you much about lady incisions. But after what happened to KC, your OTW is right to check with the V-E-T.

It's so great yall are getting along. She efun let you lick her head! Cool! AND she told yall her name :) Persephone is a purrty name. I wonder if she'll wanna be called Sephie for shorts.

None of us girls efur had swelling wif our ladigardenectomy incisions, but that's all we knows about it. We found a couple articles tho:

that's a purrty name for your sisfur. mommy says that it could be the internal stitches, but the v-e-t is the right one to call to find out.

Well...it sounds like Persephone has some cattitude...like me! But that's OK...all kittens have cattitude.

I'm so happy to meet another kitten. Congratulations on finding your forever home.

What a beautiful name for a goddess of a kitten. That is Prosepina (not sure about the spelling) in Latin.

What will her nickname be?

I would definitely call the vet.

I did call the vet that did the surgery and they told me swelling was normal. Dr. Smith (the vet who saved her) said it was not normal.

Get a second opinion if you have to. Keep us posted, too.

Oh she is sooo cute! And she looks like a frootbat!

I had my lady parts removed and there was no swelling, just a hard area so I think your OTW should take her to the vet. The Lap Lady is always taking me when something is "not right".

Welcome Persephone, I hopes you know how lucky you are to have a good home. You and Jack will become good furiends.

Being a boy kittie, I know nothing about the girlie surgery. But do get a VET check and second opinion. KC had such an ordeal, we about losted her.

Welcome to Persephone! How neat that you have a little twin!

Gosh, I hope the doctor didn't put a kangaroo in her. You'll never hear the end of it!

Double the midnight is fantastic! I love her name. Persephone seems to suit her. I agree with Rascal and efuryone, the faster a vet can look at her, the better.
I'm a boy, but when I had my daddy parts removed, the vet told us to call if there was any swelling so we think it isn't normal, especially hard stuff.

Well, they took her to the vet and the vet said it was ok. The incision is healing perfectly, the swelling was a 'lergic reaction to the stitches, which maybe is why she was trying to chew it out. And her ear mites are all cleared up. They forgot to ask the vet to weigh her though, so we still don't know how bigg she is, but the OTW says she weighs nothing.

The vet said, judging by her teeth she's definitely about 10 months. Since her Gotcha day is Dec 14, my OTW decided Valentine's Day will be her birthday! The vet said she probably won't get much bigger, but she's already filling out some.

The vet says Persephone's a very big name for a such a little cat of humble beginnings. We aren't planning on shortening it, but that might happen anyway. My OTW says one of her nicknames is probably gonna be Little Banshee, though. She says Persephone didn't stop meowing the whole way to the vets, and the whole way back!

The OTW is gonna watch her belly for a while but she says the vet they took her to is the one everyone in town her to take us to, even though it's in the next town, without her even asking them, so she thinks it'll be ok.

Sounds like you guys (well, you know what I mean) are getting along great! Some cats have friendly personalities with all cats, like me, for instance. Now Ninna *hates all other cats, at the other end of the spectrum! Or does at first, anyway.

I hope there's no problem with Persephone's stitches, but Mom was a little worried about my internal stitches, too, after that operation - everything was okay!

We are very happy to hear that Persephone has a wonderful home with you, Jack. We send her good vibes that her stitches heal up soon. (Makes our tummies itch just thinking about it!) One of our semi-feral sisters, Midnight (who is one of Stella's babies), is a beautiful black kitty like you and Persephone. Well, she cried all the way to the vet when she went in to get fixed, the whole time she was there (well, when she was conscious, anyway!) and the whole way back to the house, too, just like Persephone. (Our mom calls Midnight "Little Big Mouth.") We are very happy for you and hope you and Persephone have many happy years together. What a great Christmas present you got!
